Healthy Living Garage Gym Guide, Wisdom and Inspiration from Jerred Moon
JerThe Garage Gym Athlete: The Practical Guide to Training like a Pro, Unleashing Fitness Freedom, and Living the Simple Life.red Moon has written a fine book. He combines literally nuts and bolts practical guidelines and plans to building your own workout equipment with experience wisdom of having done it all himself, and solid expertise of having continued as a garage gym athlete for years, continually perfecting techniques himself while teaching and inspiring others. When you read a book you’re choosing to spend some time with somebody. When you read Mr. Moon’s book you find you’re in the company of someone you would choose to sit down with for good conversation and beers. He tells his story as if it is a conversation that he enjoyably sprinkles with wit and wisdom and simple practicality. The Garage Gym Athlete is a pleasant read. It’s full of right living tips and tricks to get in shape without breaking the bank, and going about fitness as if it is more a home DIY project than a hassle of commutes and gym subscriptions and fees.Add to that, Mr. Moon has gone deep in some areas with obvious thoughtfulness. It is not only a practical book, an enjoyable read in that it is also even a comprehensive guide for living, and by this I mean he provides much well-considered advice for getting out of your own rut, setting goals and managing time – which of course is life itself.Whether interested in becoming an athlete or just feeling inclined to get in better shape, read this book and let it inspire you.

Comprehensive book taking you from start to finish of creating your own garage gym.
Jerred did a great job with GGA. The book takes you through all the necessary steps to unplug from the hamster wheel of corporate fitness facilities and start living life in your garage. At the start of the book, he takes the time to show the reader how much money can be saved. Next, once you’ve made the decision to workout at home in your underwear, he has several chapters dedicated to DIY building of equipment you’ll eventually want in your home gym. The author should consider adding a chapter, in a future revision, dealing with how to buy assault bikes or rowers.Lastly, the author discusses briefly how to program using the block method. Then he goes on to discuss making habits. Personally, I think the block method to programming is very efficient and useful. After the first album few chapters there are a few bonus chapters which include 31 different bodyweight routines as well as a chapter on how to buy a barbell (your most important purchase for your garage gym!) and weights (second most important purchase).Overall, the book is great.

Jerred has written a great resource for those interested in breaking free from the …
Jerred has written a great resource for those interested in breaking free from the high costs and/or drudgery of being a member of a CrossFit box or a “Globo-gym” respectively. CrossFit box memberships are expensive (although, in my opinion, worth it if you can afford it) and globo-gym memberships, while a cheaper alternative, is to clean and pretty and high end. If you want to see true fitness results, you need to work hard and intensely performing movements and workouts that are largely frowned upon in globo-gyms and their management. To get the best of both worlds, building your own personal garage gym is, I feel, the way to go. And Jerred’s book lays out the whys, hows, and all of the particulars that you need to consider building, outfitting, and using your garage gym space to its fullest potential, so that you can reach yours.

If you’re stuck in a fitness and body composition rut and need the motivation AND practical advice on how to get a garage gym se
As a strength & conditioning coach I’ve heard a million different excuses on why people cannot train, cannot workout, and ultimately cannot reach their goals. If I had a dollar for every time I heard: “I don’t have the equipment”, “I can’t afford a gym membership”, “I don’t know what to do!” I’d be retired.Well, this book and the advice & programs Jerred and the Eo3 crew offer make all of those excuses invalid. If you’re stuck in a fitness and body composition rut and need the motivation AND practical advice on how to get a garage gym set up (on the cheap) so you can stop whining and start taking action and reaching your goals then this book is a perfect start. Packed full of practical advice, step-by-step DIY equipment projects, and everything else you need to get training, you won’t be disappointed.

Get strong in your garage
I got this as a gift from a friend and love the book. Jerred is able to take the modern aspects of physical fitness and put them in terms anyone can understand and most importantly implement. Many systems are so complicated or so equipment heavy that the garage athlete with basic gear cannot follow the program. Yeah sorry not everyone has a $1k rogue GHD. But this program does. It require any of that All you need is basic gear(that can be upgraded as you progress) and the ability to read. If you have made it this far in my review I can assume you posses the second set of skills. The 1st requirement can be had for a couple hundred bucks either on Craigslist locally or at any big box retailer for a few more than that.Tl;dr this book is well written readable and the topics are able to be easily implemented. Just buy it!

I have just finished reading the Garage Gym Athlete. I’d already made the decision to get off the gym membership merry-go-round last year. I bought a power rack, oly bar and 150Kg of plates and made my own plyo box using Jerred’s plan’s. What was missing from my home grown attempt was all the other information in Jerred’s book. Accountability and Programming being the two key elements for me. I really needed something else beyond pure strength training but without going back to CrossFit. Being a Garage Athlete takes away all the excuses I ever had about training, it’s just down to me now. I’d recommend The Garage Gym Athlete to anyone who is ready to get serious about their training. The Garage Gym Athlete: The Practical Guide to Training like a Pro, Unleashing Fitness Freedom, and Living the Simple Life.

I found this book to be simple and easy to follow for setting up some basic but effective gym equipment at home. It’s not just about working out at home but coming up with a plan and sticking with it. I’ve got kids and have a business to run and I’m just not going to drive to a crowded gym to work out. This book gave me some ideas to expand my workouts at home and up my strength training game.
