Happy with purchase. Sunny Health & Fitness, Cross Trainer Magnetic Recumbent Bike
Reviews for these are scattered with bad luck.Leaving a poor (one or two star) review simply because you had problems assembling something is wrong. It seems nearly everything purchased today requires some assembly– some things a lot more than others.I’m not alone when I say, if you have put as many things together as I have, this unit was by no means difficult. Missing hardware justifies a complaint and a lower rating. The equipment breaking down within a very short amount of time also justifies a low rating. Likewise, simply because you like the color does not justify a five star review. The better reviews reflect the quality of the product or the lack of it. I waited two months before leaving my review and you can be sure I’ll edit it if my unit develops any problems that are serious enough to even slightly affect its performance.I read up on these for close to two months before I bought the Cross Trainer Magnetic Recumbent Bike.I am glad I took my time because it seems as though everyone was putting their recumbent bike cross trainers on sale at the beginning of January. ($237 vs $370)Others were way more expensive. It took me approximately three hours to assemble– and I was taking my time. I had no issues with the assembly, all the parts were there, and nothing was damaged.Photos of the top of the display are deceiving. The large colored area is nothing but a drawing of a chart and is where you place your iPhone or iPad. There’s an electronic digital display that comes on as soon as you start pedaling and provides a timer, calories, distance, speed, odometer and pulse, and operation is easy to figure out with help provided by the owner’s manual (also available online as a downloadable PDF file).Note: pulse reading is not instantaneous. Hold your palms on the sensors, while pedaling, and it takes maybe 5 seconds or so for your pulse rate to display. Leave palms on the sensors for longer AGAIN while pedaling and you’ll get a better reading. It does work.Just take your time with the assembly. When done, sit on it, adjust the seat height for your legs and arms and start pedaling with resistance at the ‘2’ setting. Listen for any sounds of binding in the mechanisms that connect the pedal cranks to the handlebars. There is an internal sound from friction on the flywheel. That’s something I’ll monitor which may require opening up the central housing. Time will tell.I’ve been using it for two months and have had no issues and it gives me a work out that I can really feel.Try 15 minutes, five days a week and work up from there.I used an Octane xR650 (similar design) at an exercise class last fall and found out how good a workout it provided. They’re $5,000 to $6,000 new, ~ $2,000 used.I get the same exact results with this unit– the Sunny Health & Fitness, Cross Trainer Magnetic Recumbent Bike.So far, very happy.Just remember, it’s not a $5,000 machine.

Exercise Bike
Nice quiet excercise bike, needs some assembly, the best thing about it is how easy it is to get on and off of for someone who has some disability.

Great bike, extremely difficult to set up
This is a great bike. Be warned though: As someone with no experience building things, I found the bike extremely difficult to set up. The instruction manual could be better; it refers to parts by numbers when it’s not clear what each part is, so you’re left to attach part #1 to part #2 without any frame of reference. What the bike manufacturer should do is blow up individual pictures of each part with their names and numbers, and then label each physical bike part with their corresponding numbers. There is an assembly video on the bike manufacturer’s website that is infinitely easier to follow than the manual. I also emailed Sunny Health & Fitness and they were very quick to help me troubleshoot the set-up issues I experienced.Because I’m happy with how the bike turned out and Sunny’s correspondence with me, I gave this bike five stars. But if I had to do it again, I’d pick a company that offers in home assembly service.

Senior Friendly – Easy on Bad Knees
If you are a bit weak, try to get someone to help with unboxing this and assembling it. I’m a 62 year old 5’2″ overweight female who isn’t too weak yet, but it took all of my strength to get the box into the room it needed to be in, and then to flip the box after cutting open the bottom side for unboxing it in the first place. I got it unboxed the first day and checked to see if all the parts were there. The next day, I assembled it. I struggled a little bit to get something under the heavy front end to put on the front stabilizing bar (the seat handle bar is perfect for the “something”). Putting something under the back end to put on the back stabilizing bar was easier. It took me a few hours total to assemble it, but I did take a few rest breaks during that time. The wire that’s inside the top of the tube to attach to the digital monitor had a rubberband on it that evidently was supposed to be around the tube itself so it didn’t fall in. But it wasn’t on on the tube; the wire had fallen in. Fortunately, my fingers are small, so I reached in the try to find the wire. Then I felt the rubberband on the wire and was able pull it out after a few attempts to grab it. I had to rest the next day before starting to use this. The exerciser is smooth to operate and the seat is comfortable enough. My left knee is worse than my right knee, so I discovered that my thin sandals were the wrong shoes to wear while exercising because the outer part of my left knee kept clicking, so I tried a different pair of shoes. That made a big difference.Make sure you’re wearing good shoes if you have bad knees. Also, only start with 2 to 3 minutes if you haven’t been exercising previously. I started with 3 minutes a day on the lowest tension setting, and at the end of the day, my muscles definitely feel it. I’ve only had this about a week, and I won’t use it yet on my weekly heavy household chores day. I will also use one day a week to do nothing at all.

Love it
Well worth the money. Works great.

Love the bike! I hired an individual to assemble. Two minor issues1) the screws/bolts were at the bottom of the box on cardboard that was laying flat in the box with the smooth side facing up.2) the two black rubber to cover the hexagon screws are hard to put on.
