    Wish I bought this sooner
I’ve had my Oura ring for about 2 weeks now, and so far I love it. I bought a “random” cheaper ring first, because the price tag and subscription for Oura turned me off, but the other one didn’t work. I returned it and figured I’d try this.First off, get the sizing kit. If you try to guess based off of other rings, you’ll probably be disappointed. I sized it off of my pointer finger, with the intent to move it to smaller fingers as I start losing weight. (I have no interest in having to buy multiple rings if I can avoid it.) It can be worn on either hand, so I have lots of options to swap too as I hit my goals. The ring isn’t tiny, but it’s not obstructive. I’ve gotten used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all. I can shower with it on, wash my hands, go swimming…all the things. As for the tech and the app, super user friendly and easy to use. Everything is pretty intuitive and the data that doesn’t automatically make sense comes with explanations. You can see how everything ties together. Its predictive nature is also 2-for-2 for me. It’s reads your data in its entirety and tells you when things are a little off. I got a warning one morning when I woke up, and spiked a fever that evening. It’s also accurately predicted the timing of other things that women may find useful. One of the main reasons for me getting the Oura was to track sleep. In my opinion, it’s been pretty spot on. If I feel like I’ve laid in bed all night staring at the ceiling, my data matches that. If I feel like I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow, the data matches it. When I wake up feeling super refreshed, and check the app, it says I slept well. When I wake up feeling like crap, surprise! The app says I slept horribly. From there, it sets your activity target for the day – based on how rested your body is.All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. Only regret is that I spent so long deciding if I really wanted it or not. But, I guess the good thing is that it seems like this model (Oura 4) has fixed a lot of problems some of the older models had. Definitely recommend!

    Quite useful, despite some quirks
I bought the Oura 4 primarily to analyze my sleep, but I have ended up wearing it all day. I have an apple watch ultra that is fine for daytime activities. I thought the Oura would be better for analyzing sleep because it has the SpO2 sensors for oxygenation, and the battery lasts much longer after a charge than the apple watch. The information it gives me about the quality of my sleep is better than I expected, and I now have a better understanding of what my issues may be at night. It shows you when your oxygen levels varied during the night, which is useful, but one of its quirks is that it doesn’t show you the actual timeline of blood oxygen values. I would really like to see the actual values and not just the periods of variability in a timeline. It does give the average value during sleep, and it seems to think my sleep is ok, which reassures me that I probably don’t have sleep apnea. Also, I wore both my apple watch and the Oura for two nights, and they gave significantly different values for the total time awake during the night. From my own memories of waking up, the Oura seemed to be more accurate. Also, I came across a research study (paid by Oura) that compared it to the apple watch, and it claimed that the Oura was more accurate for judging time awake. My biggest surprise was today, when the Oura app told me that I was essentially under the weather and I should rest today. In fact, I haven’t felt very well since yesterday. It was amazing to me that the Oura determined that. It said my nighttime temperature was elevated and my breathing rate higher than usual. But, in another quirk, it did not actually give me the numbers to back up these conclusions. Did Oura think I could not handle the truth? 🙂 Oura likes to give general conclusions, like your activity levels are fine, your sleep was fine, etc, but it seems like it tries to avoid giving you all the raw data in some cases. I found that very annoying at first, but I am getting used to it. It does give you a time line of activity and HR. I have only had the Oura for a week, and the app has mentioned that it is establishing my baseline for the first couple of weeks. I assume that once the baseline is established, it will be able to tell me whenever I fall outside my usual range on different measures. That should be very useful. I didn’t expect to like the Oura ring as much as I do, because I thought it might not provide much more information than my apple watch. But it actually does, at least during sleep. When I think I may be coming down with a bug, it is reassuring to know when the Oura thinks so too. It is also nice that I don’t have to recharge it for several days. The Oura cannot replace an apple watch, of course, because it does not display messages and does not have access to apps that I use. The best of all worlds is to have both.

Provides great insight into health patterns
My husband loves it! He has cancer and is now noticing his stress levels are highest on days the days he has treatment (go figure, right?). He always said he felt the same on treatment days until after treatment, but now he knows he has pre treatment stress/anxiety he can work on. Also his sleep patterns are well documented for him to share with his provider. He feels this ring is helping him take a little more control over the things he has the power to control, so he can discuss with his oncologist. This ring has given him back a little bit of what he has lost from being ill. I’ve noticed a change in his energy levels and his mood. I feel this was worth every penny and then some.

Check the fit carefully. It needs to be snug
The Oura ring is an Interesting tool for helping monitor your sleeping and movement throughout the day.Sizing requires buying these sizer rings which I did and the size 11 fit my two ring ringers. The 12 fit my index and middle fingers.I went with the 11. But the left was called little bit loose, not quite snug enough and occasionally does not sense pulse. Othe right ring finger is bigger as it is my dominant hand and works well there. But it is critical that it is a firm snug fit and should resist you well you try to spin it on your finger. But not so tight that you can not get it off or when it gets fatter from humidity or exercise. So it is hard to fit. Get these to test with. And wear them for 24 hours or more before deciding and chose a ring size that may fit multiple fingers snugly so you may be able to find one that works in different environments for you.

Great sizing tool. However, Amazon SG doesnt allow the actual Oura Ring to be delivered. The status has been “Ordered Received…”
