Our Recommendations:
This protein powder is best suited for individuals looking for a slow-release protein to support muscle recovery during extended periods without food, such as overnight or between meals. It's also beneficial for those aiming to increase satiety. Given its “discontinued by manufacturer” status, if you find it, it's a product with a good reputation. However, be prepared to explore Optimum Nutrition's current casein offerings or similar products from other brands if this specific version is unavailable.
Conclusion:
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Micellar Casein in Chocolate Supreme has been a quality choice for sustained protein release, effectively supporting overnight recovery and satiety with its rich protein and EAA profile. Its formulation by a leading brand adds to its appeal. However, the critical factor is its “discontinued by manufacturer” status, which severely impacts future availability. While an excellent product for its intended purpose, consumers will likely need to seek current alternatives from Optimum Nutrition or other brands.

Favorite Protein Powder – Holes Poked in Heat Seal
This has become a daily staple to get extra protein in. It’s great to have before bed, and helps me stay full. I often find protein powders to taste sickly sweet, and can’t stand the artificial sweetener aftertaste, but I find the chocolate flavor tastes just right. I also don’t get the upset stomach that I typically get with whey proteins. This tends to be a thicker consistency, and can have a bit of the powder texture remaining. My favorite way to make this is with one cup of nonfat fit milk (14g protein) and 3/4 of a scoop of protein powder. I’ve found putting the powder in the shaker after the liquid leaves less clumps, and letting it rest for about 30 seconds and shaking one more time helps even further. You may want to know: the heat seal on the container I received had several pin holes poked in it (as shown in photo). I contacted their customer service with concerns the product had been tampered with, and found this is a shipping practice of theirs to allow for pressure changes during air transport.

Best Vanilla Taste + Fullness Achieved
I ordered the vanilla one because I read about how tasty it was. So true! This is the tastiest, creamiest vanilla protein powder I’ve ever had. I am thinking of making a healthy ice cream with this one :)After about 30-45 minutes of having it, I started feeling super full. I definitely feel the slow absorption which is great for feeling full for a long time.

Functionality and flavor are both good
I have specific health needs that require a high-protein, low-calorie diet, and this protein powder works perfectly as a breakfast meal replacement. I typically mix one scoop with 12 oz of 2% Fairlife milk and 8 oz of cold brew, which totals around 40 grams of protein. On its own, it provides 22 grams of protein per serving, making it easy to use multiple times a day to meet macro goals, even with just water. The flavor isn’t too sweet, and it adds a nice richness without a chalky texture. It also keeps me full from breakfast until my 1:00 PM lunch, even when I start my workday at 8:30 AM.For best results, I recommend using a good mixer bottle. My favorite is the Helimix 22 oz. That said, the powder dissolves well and doesn’t clump, making it easy to mix.Overall, this is a great choice for anyone looking to add quality protein to their diet without unnecessary calories or unpleasant textures.

First time I open the lid of an Option Nutrition product and didn’t find a seal.

Would not recommend cookies and cream flavour, it’s filled with cookie chunks which don’t dissolve in water. It might be good if you incorporate it into your cooking eg some pastries, but you would be better off with chocolate/vanilla flavours if you just want a shake to mix with water/milk.
