EZON GPS Running Watch – T031 for Men

Surprisingly good
I bought this watch to have a relatively inexpensive watch that sets time to the GPS time signal (rather than to use GPS to track workouts, although the watch can do that, too). The GPS time signal is sourced from an atomic clock on a GPS satellite, and so can be considered a validated reference time that doesn’t drift. It’s what your smart phone uses.For GPS time, the watch works well. To set the time (after initially choosing your time zone — that part is not automatic), just hold the GPS button (right middle button). The watch will beep and start to search for the satellite signal. Let go of the button when you hear the beep. The watch almost always finds the signal within a couple minutes, often faster (works reliably). It then beeps again. The time is automatically set to the GPS time signal. A second button press (left middle button) then cancels GPS mode. Simple! Once out of GPS mode the battery will last months on a single charge. Then, a rapid charge with the clever included cable (it clips to the watch rather than making you fiddle with a plug) is all that’s needed. I set the watch to the GPS signal once a day when I leave my house for work and it stays accurate to the second all day. I charge it once a month or so.Overall, you get accurate timekeeping and with much less frustration than watches that automatically set using the NIST long wave radio time signal (such as Casio Waveceptor). Buy a GPS time Casio and you’re looking at a four-figure price.The Ezon is stylish and easy to read, too, with an attractive negative LCD face and clean lines. The face can display just the hours/minutes, or also include the date or a numeric display of seconds. In all modes, a subtle LCD second “hand” progresses around the perimeter of the face.The watch is water resistant and very easy to clean. Lysol or rubbing alcohol won’t mar the finish. Wash it under a faucet with no problem.Shipping from China was much faster than promised.I thought there must be a downside so I waited a good while before reviewing — nope, it’s still working great and looking like new. I recommend it!

Decent Hiking Watch, Decent Price
I have mixed feelings about the watch. It is a good watch for the price as compared to the other top brands.What I like: white display with black letters and numbers. Adjustable contrast.Most watches today have gone to the dark mode. It does have a multifunction chronometer, barometer, altimeter, and compass.What I’m not real thrilled about: the user guide/booklet is so small. I had to photograph each page so I could read the 30 pages of instructions. You have to read the setup instructions carefully for the first time. It took me a few times but I finally got everything set for my use. The clock, timer, stopwatch, compass are okay but the accuracy of the barometer and altimeter I question. I live less than a mile from a NWS/NOAA weather station. I have an altimeter/barometer setup in my house and it is always dead on with the weather station. The watch barometer is reading about .33 inches low and the altimeter is reading 30 ft high. This has to be an older model. The newer models are dark mode with easy twist off back to replace the battery or in some models, they recharge via USB. This model has 4 micro screws to remove the back and replace the battery. The light isn’t great. Green numbers and letters. Extremely dim. You have to be in almost total darkness to see the light.But for the price, it will do!

HOW HIGH AM I???
The main reason I bought this watch was for the compass and altimeter functions. The compass function seems to work okay, but the altimeter goes all over the place. I will calibrate to 4ft above sea level where I live, but when I get home from work 8 miles away, it says I’m -146 ft below sea level, or over 100 ft above sea level. Had I known, I would not have purchased. It seems to keep time accurately, and as for the barometer function, I still have to figure that one out.

ストップウォッチやタイマー以外の機能を搭載したリストウォッチは、アングラー用機能を搭載したラドウェザー以外では比較的高価なものが多い。だからと言って、潮位計があっても釣りをしないものにはほぼ役立たず。そんな中で、気圧計・高度計・コンパス機能をメインに搭載する本機は都市生活でも使い方次第ではお役立ちかも。日本語のマニュアルが付属せず、使用方法に困っているユーザーが多いもよう。自身もそうで、最初は使うの止めようかと思っていたが、いじくっているうちに基本的な使い方が分かってきたので記しておく。向かって左側に二つのボタン。上がライトボタンで、文字盤の照明と長押しで各ボタンのロックをする機能をもつ。長押しでロック、ボタン近くの液晶左上に小さいアイコンがでる。もう一度長押しするとアイコンが消えロック解除。他のレビュアーの方も書いているが、いつの間にかボタンが押され時刻表示から変わっている、って現象を防げる。左下がモードボタン。これも長押しで各機能のセッティングのモードに入るが、上記した「いつの間にかボタンが押されて表示が変わってしまっている」ことへの対抗措置なのだろうが、長押しだけでは上手くいってない様子。手の甲側の右側ボタンのみロックするような仕様が必要か？で、このモードボタンでは、右側三つのボタンの上下それぞれのボタンで循環方向を選べるが、下向きではアラーム・ストップウォッチ・タイマー・ワールドタイム・メモリー・セッティングと機能選択が進む。「セッティング」以外は実際に操作すればすぐわかるので割愛。セッティングの機能としては、下向きではタイム-デイト・アラーム・タイマー・alti-baro・コンパス・ユニットとメニューが循環。「コンパス」は、キャリブレーションの機能だったりで、他の機能もそれぞれの準備機能。実際にいじくった方が理解は早いと思う。リストウォッチとして仕様する上で、一番大事な「時計合わせ」にはタイム-デイトに合わせ、右側の中央ボタンを押す(アナログ時計の竜頭の所)。ここので、時計表示の12時間か24時間を選んだり、温度や高度・気圧の単位を選択する。温度も摂氏と華氏、気圧のmbとhPaの違いなんかがあるから慣れた単位を選ぶと良い。他のレビュアーさんも書いていたが、自分に当たったやつは、どうも中華国内用のよう。メインの時計で現時刻合わせ用にも、タイムゾーンが中国国内の都市からしか選べない。緯度の近い都市をテキトーに選ぶのが手だが、そうなるとワールドタイムが意味を為さず「東京(日本)」とは時差ができてしまう！国内にいて時差ができるなんて、どこの大陸国家だっ！てな・・・(~_~;ストップウォッチやタイマーなんか、今時ならばスマホを使う方がよっぽど便利。それをサブ機能として、安価な製品では珍しい高度計や気圧計をメインにした所がこの製品のキモ！気圧計なんか何に使うの？と思う人、素人判断では断定ができないが、晴れてて気圧が高い状態から下がっていけばそれは天気の下り坂ということ。時計ひとつで天気の傾向が読めたりもする。高度計を朝、海面高度の気圧にセットしておいて、できれば居住地の標高をセットしておけば、それの上がり下がりだけで低気圧や高気圧の接近を感じることができる。慣れれば、リストウォッチひとつで天気の傾向が読め、洗濯物を外にしようか室内にしようかとか、外出するときに折りたたみ傘を持つかどうか、そんな日常のことを天気予報より細かく知ることができ。道具としての深い使い方ができる本製品は、コストパフォーマンスとしてかなり上出来なんじゃないかと思った・・・が、最後にひとつ、この製品の最大にして最悪な欠点を書いておく。あくまでも、自分に届いた製品個体と限定して、歩留まり的に違うものもあるのかなぁ〜と思いつつ。液晶のバックライトが使い物にならない。左上のライトボタンを押しても、ほの明るくなのだけ。ごく限定した角度から見ないと、何時に表示されているか視認は不可能。経験的に言うと、時計の文字盤に向かって、やや下寄りから見ないと緑一色って感じ文字が見えない。基本的に、バックライトが明るすぎないのは良いのだが、液晶自体のコントラストが弱くバックライトに負けていると言うところか・・・。この一点、改善されれば文句なく星五つ！プロトレックもスントも蹴っ飛ばせますぜ！
