Our Recommendations

For assembly, we recommend carefully reviewing all parts before starting, as user feedback indicates the instructions can be poor. If you are not experienced with assembling gym equipment, consider setting aside extra time or watching online tutorials. To address potential noise, ensure all pulleys and guide rods are properly lubricated during and after setup for the smoothest, quietest operation.

Conclusion

The Body-Solid Pec Machine is a robust and highly effective piece of equipment that delivers commercial-quality performance. Its smooth motion, sturdy build, and versatility make it a valuable addition for those serious about their training. While the challenging assembly process is a significant drawback, the machine's excellent performance, value, and lifetime warranty make it a top contender for anyone willing to overcome the initial setup.

Compact, smooth, quiet….and affordable, can’t ask for anything more…
After examining several pec fly machines, I decided to go with this one. I need something compact. I like the simple design, nothing extra. The others such as Yukon have a foot rest, which, although is good, is, I believe unnecessary and takes up additional room. The setup is straightforward. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING THE PLASTIC COLLARS OVER THE CHROME COLUMN — THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE ONES FOR THE SEAT POST, cannot really distinguish the difference from the picture. Note the THINNER- WALLED COLLAR GOES OVER THE CHROME COLUMNS — so the weighted pulley can slide smoothly. The plastic collars for the chrome column WILL fit into the seat post, but the collars for the seat post WILL NOT fit over the chrome column. That annoyance aside, it is an amazing piece of machine. It is smooth and quiet, and the movement has a slight upward cant which is I EXACTLY what I wanted to work the upper pecs. If I wanted to work even more of the upper pec I simply use the upper handles. As far as working the rear deltoids are concerned, I find that I am weaker in that aspect, therefore, changing weights can be a pain. I now only wish that they come with a selectable stack weight option. Well, after I wear this one out, if ever, I may upgrade to a commercial version.

    Nice and Smooth
I had one issue with the machine. The back pad had the recessed bolt pushed through, so I couldn’t connect the bottom to the machine properly. I will contact Body Solid about a replacement back pad. My only complaint with the machine itself is that it isn’t isolateral. So one side of the chest can do more work than the other. You just have to make sure you are using a slow and controlled motion. Realistically they would never be able to put two independent slides/plate loads on a machine at this price unless it was a lay down leverage pec fly.The instructions were horrible. It’s just a diagram, but it was still easy enough to put together. I would suggest first grouping the screws, bolts, washers, etc by part number. Take note that the Nylon Bushings are two different sizes. I put the smaller ones on the plate load and they fit fine. But then the plate load won’t slide onto the slide bar. It was a little bit of a pain to remove the nylon bushing, but once I got it off and put the right bushing on it was a breeze.I applied some silicone lubricant made for workout equipment to it and it was very smooth. Do not use WD-40!!!

    So far, so good.
I love mine. I was hesitant to buy it without trying it out but I’m extremely happy with it. Once lubricated the action is smooth. The arms have multiple positions you can lock them into, just like a commercial machine.I use the machine for reverse flies just as often as I do for flies and it’s great for both. I’ve been using it twice a week for over a month with up to 100 pounds without incident. You can buy adapter sleeves separately to allow a snug fit for olympic plates but I haven’t seen the need for them. Olympic plates stay on just fine and don’t spin around or do anything else distracting without the adapter sleeves. The instructions consist of just an exploded drawing of the machine. I’m not the brightest bulb but I still figured it out and put it together. Make sure to lubricate the moving parts when assembling (no lubricant was supplied, at least with mine). The pads for the back/chest and rear seem a little flimsy but I haven’t had an issue with them yet.Overall, this is an excellent machine and I’m pleased I added it to my home gym.

Some design issues, but otherwise ok
I’ve owned this machine for almost two years. Here are my opinions:Pros:- The machine operates smoothly.- I don’t have to use plate collars (the weights stay in place during operation). I use Olympic style plates, and they stay in place without issue on the standard-sized pegs.Cons:- The two arms (which connect to the swiveling handles) are too long in my opinion.- The backrest is about an inch too far back (I added a board between the backrest and the metal support column to make it more comfortable).- I am six foot two inches tall: I have to set the seat to the lowest height adjustment to get a couple inch clearance between the top of my head and the metal frame (that is directly above it). If I were a couple inches (or more) taller I would not fit in the machine.Despite my above criticisms, this was the best value for a free-weight pec machine that I could find. I would probably buy it again.

Love working out on this thing
Got the 235 stack x 2. Love working out on this thing. I was hesitant at first because of possibly being limited on lat pull downs because of the height. It’s high enough, sitting on a 17 inch bench, and me being 5’10”. I get enough of the range, but of course not full stretch. But I don’t feel it’s lacking range for a lat pulldown. If you are taller than 5’10” it might be quite limiting, and more so if you are past 6′. I can do rows, extensions, pushdowns, external rotation, single arm retractions at multi-angles, and trunk rotation. Fast to switch, and I like better than dumbbells for back work. Of course this won’t replace free weights, or having a bench press. High quality, frame/paint. Instructions aren’t the greatest, but definitely doable in a 2-3 hours.

This is not a multigym but is brilliant for pec and rear delt exercises. It requires construction on receipt as it comes in pieces in two boxes. A must have for any home gym if you are okay with building it yourself. Get someone in yo help you if not.

It does work well, and I do enjoy it. I’m upset that the company just threw it all into the box with broken styrofoam. Lots of factory problems, paint chips, welding messed up, pieces not fitting together, took me awhile to put together as the instructions are horrible. But after all the anger I had a good work out. Another problem I find is the rear delt is weird and awkward as the handles move around a lot.
