    I Got Bands Now
    The contents of this book are golden. I have said this before but it always seems like James publishes a book a the perfect time for me. The cards he has are a great idea. I always have trouble tracking what I am doing. I do a lot of things but I just kind of decide at the gym what I am going to do and never track it. The bands workout are what resonated with me. I can do these anywhere. I bought bands years ago and only used them for form help during lifting. I then saw a video of Thor (Hemsworth) using only bands for resistance training. I never really thought about using them for resistance training. About a week later this book came out and I really love it. The training guide is great and gives me even more tools to help me on my journey here. James is the best. He’s so supportive and just so happy to help people.

    Great place to start!
    Atkinson covers everything you need to know to get started on a beginner’s body recomposition.. His exercise program is structured for you to tailor to your own home equipment and preferences, even including just body weight exercises. The exercise illustrations are helpful, and his explanations are thorough. He includes great little printable exercise schedules for full body or split workouts. The thinking is done for you; just start exercising.He also includes diet advice, though I already have my own strategy so I didn’t incorporate much from that section. Still, it seemed straightforward, so if you are struggling to find a suitable eating pattern, his advice is worth considering.

    Illustrations and explanations of proper lifting form
    I really liked this book. I’ve been weight lifting for health reasons for 10 years, and I actually learned a number of new lifts and details about proper form in this book. Some things in the book that I liked:-Illustrations to show the lift in action-Shows the lifts with barbells and then same version with resistance bands and then the same version using just your body weight-Bullet points on proper form-The writing is concise and to the point-The chapters easily link you to the lifts you want to know more about.Also, learned that the author has a podcast. I’ll have to check that out.

    I had higher expectations for this book, especially in terms of practical exercises. Unfortunately, it contains fewer exercises than I had hoped for, which was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the book is not a traditionally printed edition but rather a print-on-demand copy, which I didn’t expect. While the content itself is informative, the overall experience didn’t fully meet my expectations.

    Beginners will find this most useful as it’s a good rundown of basic training structure and compound movements in training sessions. The guide shows how to use bodyweight, resistance bands, barbells and dumbbells to train the same muscle groups. So you can use any of these in your routine for the same result.There are plenty of routines to follow, but you can make your own. This is also a big part of the book.Diet wise, it’s the “working at a calorie deficit” approach. There are some tips and tricks in this department that show you how to estimate portion sizes without using the scales if you wish.As mentioned, it’s good for beginners but I feel that most will take something from it. A well put together guide.

    I have had a review copy of the book for a couple of weeks now. It follows the same style as the other 8 books I have from the author. Clear, easy to read and understand. I have enjoyed all the books from James and this one doesn’t disappoint. If your looking to drop a few kilos this book could go a long way to helping you do do that.
