I have a Peloton Bike and now this Hydrow Pro
I researched all the rowers in the market. I even tried at first some of the $300 rowers on Amazon – bad stroke mechanics, swivel foot (bad! bad!). It was down to the Hydrow Pro, Concept 2, Ergatta, Nordic Track and Peloton Row. If you are a purist and a Olympic rower – go with the Concept 2! I’m definitely not. I’m a beginner and need classes and guidance. So it’s down to all the others mentioned. But if you want to see classes on the water (that’s the whole point of rowing, right?) then it’s down to the Hydrow and Nordic Track (Peloton is indoor classes and Ergatta is gaming – cool but not the right ethos for me). By the way I tried the Peloton Row at their store and it’s a bit quieter but the action is definitely not as smooth as the Hydrow Pro. As for Nordic Track I didn’t try and I hear it’s great. But, being vain, it came down to looks and fit in my home at this point. The Hydrow Pro is beautiful, a work of impeccable design. Let me repeat that – it’s amazing to look at and feel like a super premium experience when getting on it.I’ve had this Hydrow Pro for a month now and like it even more. I alternate between the Peloton Bike and the Hydrow Pro rower and don’t need to go to a gym anymore – I’m all set (with some free weights I also have). Yes, each costs $44/month but well worth it for fitness. I could have saved money by using the same subscription for the Peloton Row, but that machine is much more expensive – and I like what each does best. Some people may say that the screen quality of the Hydrow Pro is less contrasty than the Nordic Track or Peloton Row – definitely true. The Hydrow Pro is older and has an older screen. But for my workouts and still feeling like I’m on the water, that matters a tiny pinch.

Looks Easy
Weight lifter that uses this for cardio and minor posture corrections. Great workout……every time.

Easy to use and assemble
I’m a female 76 year old and could put this together myself. I haven’t used the video on it because I got the impression I had to pay for the videos. That said, I use it almost daily in short bursts so the videos probably wouldn’t help me anyway. It’s nice that I can get on it and row for 5, 10 or 15-minute segments, get off, and come back later and do it again. The seat is high enough that I can get on and off without a problem. I have COPD so walking or other types of exercises are very difficult for me.The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I don’t want to pay for the rowing videos.

Bad weather partner
Full body low impact cardio that we can share. The connected aspect is fantastic. Had this for 3yrs now and still use it regularly for both rowing and on the mat exercises such as stretch, mobility, yoga. Big part of fitness journey.

Credit Card info
The only way to use this is to put your credit card info in the the machine. Even if you go online to purchase the membership, it will still require you to input your credit card info. I almost sent the machine back.

A great exercise system
I have found that Hydrow a bit pricey, but well worth the money. It is sturdy enough for my 250 pound, 6′ 3″ body to fully extend. The engineering seems top notch. The hardware, software, and the subscription support keeps me focused liike no other exercise activity. The coaching is superb. I have a back problem, but the system is helping to strengthen it along with my respiratory system. The only minor complaint I might have is that the seat can allow slipping off the back, if you are not aware. Other than that, I find this system to be great! Delivery took over a month, but it was executed well.

AWESOME MACHINE – BLOWS CONCEPT 2 OUT OF THE WATER
I am an eight year crew parent, so when it came to getting my own rowing machine, I was initially biased toward a Concept 2. Two of my kids used the Concept 2 and I used a Concept 2 at the gym. The HYDROW BLOWS AWAY THE CONCEPT 2. The seat is more comfortable. The training videos add variety, add exercises (like pausing at different points in the stroke like rowers do when training on the water) and frankly solve for the boredom and monotony that often come with just rowing a Concept 2 and staring at the wall. This machine is both more fun and a better workout than a Concept 2. You also get connected to an online community which adds healthy competition and motivation for those who are into that. I can’t think of a single thing I would change about the Hydrow. Set up is also very easy.

Very buggy. Great…when it works.
I loved my Hydrow until I started having all kinds of issues with it. Bluetooth connection issues, WiFi connection issues, and now finally issues with the machine even booting up properly. I get an error that the Hydrow app failed to launch.Customer service helped me with a few factory resets and said if I kept having problems they could replace my screen. I’ve now been asking them to go ahead and do that for weeks, as there have been days I could not even use the machine because it won’t boot up properly. They keep giving me the run around. First they started asking me all these troubleshooting questions about my WiFi. I work from home, my internet is fine. I have two Peloton workout machines that work just fine. I’ve tried plugging the Hydrow directly into a router with an Ethernet cable. Now they’ve just stopped responding to me at all. Guess my only option is to start harassing them to let me pay for a new screen, since they don’t seem to want to live up to their offer to replace it under warranty, and in its current state it’s basically a big fancy sculpture that occasionally decides to work as a rower.
